• As simple as accessing clubmasterchef.com and choosing from the wide range on offer. These first weeks, special launch offer: MasterChef’s Grand Selection Box, which includes 5 + 1 wines of different varieties, for only 39 euros.
The world’s most famous culinary talent continues to work to showcase the best of Spanish gastronomy and, along these lines, is now developing an exclusive collection of wines selected by sommelier Javier Gila. The five-time Spanish sommelier champion and president of the Madrid Sommelier Association (AMS) has chosen a total of eight wines of different varieties and denominations that are perfect to continue discovering the great wine produced in our country and that already make up the first MasterChef winery.
Gila has chosen to include a rosé: the rosé from the Cigales denomination, which is characterized by its fruity flavour with hints of citrus. The prestigious sommelier has also selected two reds: a Ribera del Duero Tempranillo and a Syrah. The first one combines bitter, sweet and acid flavours, while the Syrah stands out for its great intensity.
White wines also play a leading role in the selection. Gila has chosen an Albariño from Rías Baixas with an outstanding fruit load, a Verdejo from the Rueda denomination characterized by its aroma of orange peel and fresh apple and a sauvignon blanc, with tropical and French notes. The collection is completed by Brut de Penedés cava with floral and white fruit aromas.

Javier Gila, a sommelier with a long career
Javier Gila has been responsible for selecting the wines that make up the MasterChef winery. The five-time Spanish sommelier champion and president of the Madrid Sommelier Association (AMS) has always been closely linked to the hospitality industry, since his father was also dedicated to it. With an academic background in wine and gastronomy, Gila has worked in restaurants and wine bars. He has also trained sommeliers from all over Spain and even abroad at the Bellamar Hotel School, where he worked for 15 years.
After training in hospitality in Marbella and taking the IFE Sommelier Course of the Madrid Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Gila worked for the Freixenet group – of which he was the first sommelier – and at the Ritz Hotel. Also worth noting is his visit to the Villa Magna hotel or the Lavinia store in Madrid, where he has been a wine consultant. He is currently director of Wine & Wineries at uva.wine.
