The ninth edition of ‘MasterChef Junior’ will soon arrive on La 1 with new candidates ready to demonstrate their passion for cooking. After stopping in Barcelona, Valencia and Seville, the casting has made a final stop in Madrid where the young chefs have presented their star dishes to conquer the show’s culinary staff and win a wooden spoon, which grants continuity in the selection process. In total, the programme has registered more than 8,000 entries to take part in the culinary talent show produced by RTVE in collaboration with Shine Iberia.
MasterChef Junior’ has shown that the new generations are coming on strong. They are only between 8 and 12 years old, but the dishes that have been presented during the casting denote a high level. Bull’s tail terrine with Pedro Ximénez and parsnip cream, octopus ceviche with guacamole foam, Payoyo cheesecake with dulce de leche, stew gyozas in miso soup and white chocolate coulant, mango cream and peta zetas are some of the dishes prepared by the candidates.
“This edition of ‘MasterChef Junior’ has once again been marked by the pandemic, which, for once, has had positive aspects. The restrictions on mobility and the teleworking of parents have meant that cooking has become a favourite pastime for our candidates, to which they have dedicated many more hours than they used to, because cooking was something fun that they could do at home and with their families. This year, therefore, we have found children with many more ‘flying hours’ in the kitchen than usual”, as confirmed by Esther González, casting director of Shine Iberia.
Very soon we will be able to meet the new contestants, including the next winner of ‘MasterChef Junior España’. Pepe Rodríguez, Jordi Cruz and Samantha Vallejo-Nágera are already waiting in the kitchens for these young chefs.
